Prince Edward Island
Flag Adopted: 1964 Date of Confederation: 1873 An English heraldic lion appears along the top of this flag. The lion is from the coat of arms of Prince Edward for whom the Island was named. There is an island with one mature oak and three young oaks symbolizing Britain, as the mature oak, and the three counties of King’s, Queen’s and Prince as the three young oaks. The island represents both Britain and the province as islands.
